A Black Dahlia Murder occurs as metal band from Detroit, Michigan. Their influences include At The Gates and Carcass. A band is known as fallowing a unresolved execution of actress Elizabeth Short who was often known as The Black Dahlia for frequently dressing within black.
Debate on classification
One of a supplementary contentious topics of discussion of the band is their subgenre: Come it considered melodic death metal, or only metalcore, a fusion-genre which besides will require influence to old Swedish melodic death metal bands?
The handout by Metal Blade Records described the healthy when "Hardcore-influenced death metal" depending around section by the description from either Revolver Magazine.
Guitarist Brian Eschbach cited that this was a mislabel originating from either the band's 2000 formation:
"Back then, our sound was very much like a mix of hardcore and metal. We recorded a demo tape (Consisting of four tracks) with that kind of sound, but that’s when it all ended.[http://www.themetalforge.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=161]
However, in an October 2004 interview with Uranium Magazine, vocalist Trevor Strnad commented: "But yethe, i toured using this b& Vermilion – it own this cool Refuse’ish metalcore healthy – & their drummer produced each their records and gave the babies a healthy that wwhen heavily as shit. & that’s what i desire, really texturous guitars that ooze away from a speaker." The band's physical appearance, fanbase, and tourmates have also lead to the metalcore label; however, one attribute that separates The Black Dahlia Murder from bands with comfortable metalcore-labeling is that there are no intervals of "emo"/clean vocals in songs. And in addition to touring with metalcore bands, they have also toured with many big name extreme metal groups, like Napalm Death and Nile
Since members of the band have cited many different forms of extreme musical influences, any subgenre (belonging to metal or hardcore music) may not firmly apply.
